UPY 2019 Underwater Photography Book of the Year - Special Recognition
'Blue Planet II'
James Honeyborne and Mark Brownlow
Take a deep breath and dive into the mysteries of the ocean. Blue Planet II, which accompanies the epic 7-part BBC TV series, is a ground-breaking new look at the richness and variety of underwater life across our planet.
Judge's comment: Blue Planet II was watershed moment in underwater imagery and the book that compliments the TV series is filled with spectacular images from many leading photographers (including one of the judges - AM). The BBC intended for the book to entered in last year’s contest, but it arrived after the judging. However, the quality and diversity of the underwater photography in this volume meant we wanted to award it a retrospective Special Recognition in the category.
